Terms of Use

The site is a free educational reference site for licensed engineers, electricians, contractors, building inspectors, and students. The calculators and reference pages are aids to professional judgement — not substitutes for stamped engineering drawings or AHJ approval. Use of the site implies acceptance of these terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the site (https://codepass.pro/), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site. We may revise these terms at any time; continued use after revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Educational reference, not professional advice

The calculators and reference pages are provided as educational aids to qualified engineering professionals. Outputs from the site are not stamped engineering drawings, do not constitute professional engineering advice, and have no legal standing. Every output must be independently verified by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent qualified professional in your jurisdiction before being used in any real installation, design, or specification.

The site explicitly disclaims responsibility for any installation, equipment, structure, or system designed using the site\'s outputs without independent verification by a licensed engineer.

3. Standards quotations

Site pages quote and reference standards published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA, including NEC), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Standards Australia / Standards New Zealand (AS/NZS), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and others.

These quotations are reproduced under fair-use / fair-dealing for educational reference. The original standards remain owned by their respective publishing bodies. The site does not grant any licence to the underlying standards documents — to obtain a complete copy of any standard, purchase it from the publishing body or an authorised distributor.

4. Content licence

The site-authored content (text, formulas, worked examples, reference tables compiled from standards, custom illustrations) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt the content for any purpose, including commercial, with appropriate attribution.

The calculator algorithms (the underlying TypeScript modules) are released separately under the MIT licence — see the project repository.

The "site" name, logo, and brand identity are reserved trademarks. Use of the name or logo in a manner that suggests endorsement requires prior written permission.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the site responsibly. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Misrepresent the site outputs as a substitute for licensed engineering judgement
  • Scrape the site at a rate that interferes with normal user access (rate limit: 60 requests / minute)
  • Use the site for unlawful purposes or to facilitate illegal installations
  • Reverse engineer the site to extract proprietary algorithms beyond what the MIT-licensed calculator code already exposes
  • Misrepresent yourself as the site or the site employee
  • Attempt to access non-public administrative pages or APIs

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.

While site pages are reviewed by a licensed PE before publication, no calculator can replace professional judgement applied to your specific project conditions, local code amendments, AHJ requirements, or current edition of the underlying standard. Always confirm the calculation against your authoritative source before relying on it.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the site, its operators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, business, goodwill, or other intangibles — arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the site, regardless of legal theory and even if the site has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

The site\'s total cumulative liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to the greater of (a) USD 100, or (b) the amount you have paid the site in the twelve months preceding the claim (which is zero, since the site is free).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the site, its operators, contributors, and affiliates from any claim, loss, damage, expense, or liability — including reasonable legal fees — arising from (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your use of the site outputs in any installation, design, or specification, (c) your infringement of third-party rights through use of the site.

9. Third-party links

Site pages link to third-party sites (Wikipedia, IEEE, NFPA, AISC, ASCE, manufacturer documentation, government publications). The site does not control these external sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. Linking does not constitute endorsement.

10. Privacy

Use of the site is also governed by the site Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

11. Termination

The site reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these Terms, abuse the site, or interfere with normal operation. Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that by their nature should survive (e.g. licence rights to content already downloaded under CC BY 4.0).

12. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator\'s jurisdiction without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.

13. Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page for 30 days. The current version is identified by the "Last updated" date below. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
